A TARGET AND A VICTOR

Hello everyone

This week we will be looking "THE AUTHORITY AS A BELIEVER"
Introduction: Many people don't know the truth about Satan's defeat. In fact, many Christians are the very instrument the devil is using to foster the deception that he is still a powerful foe. "Spiritual warfare" is one of the hottest topics in the church today. People are expending great amounts of energy constantly battling the devil in ways contrary to Scripture, but in reality, Satan has already been defeated. We don't need to defeat him again!

  1.  What authority/power do I have as a believer?
  • Authority to secure the battlefield(the mind) by taking wrong thoughts (Satan's deceptions) captive. 2 Cor. 10:5
  • Over evil spirits, sickness and diseases (over all works of the devil). Matt 10:1,8; sin, deat, poverty, sickness and also reconciled sinners to God. Eph. 6:10, Eph. 1:18-23.
  • You are more than a conqueror. Though a target, not a victim. Rom. 8:37

     2.  What do I do with this authority/power?

  • Open your wardrobe and take the whole amour you were given at salvation and put them on. Eph. 6:11,13
  • Put on your garment of praise from where comes strength and against which the devil cannot stand. Is. 61:3 Ps.8:2 (Strength=praise)
  • Go to war knowing that victory has been achieved! Be proactive and not reactive. You cannot turn your back because there is no weapon to cover your back Matt.11:12 Eph. 6:11-18

    3.  Who do I war against?

  • The battle is not against flesh and blood (not against your friend, brother, sister, neighbour etc.) Eph.6:12 Math. 16:15-17. Be careful to avoid strife! James 3:16
  • The battle is not really against the devil because he is a defeated foe, rendered powerless and exhibited publicly like a specimen. Col.2:15, Rev. 1:18
  • The battle is against the trickery of the devil. It is a mind battle. Fight the right battle. Prov.4:23, Eph.6:11. Phil 4:8

Conclusioin: the choices you make, the things you say, the actions you take, and what you believe about what is happening around you determines whether God or Satan dominates in your life. Satan cannot control you outside your will. He cannot do anything without your coopoeration and consent. But you need to recognize that you're in a battle

To win in this war, you must know who you are and the authority you have as a believer.
